HER Sober House A safe, structured home for women rebuilding a life in recovery.

About

HER Sober House is a sober living home for women in Fredericton - a stable, structured place to live alongside other women in recovery, for as long as it takes to get steady.

HER Sober House started because the people behind it kept watching the same thing happen: a woman finishes treatment, does everything she was asked to do, and then has nowhere to go except back to the situation she just left.

A house does not fix that on its own. What it does is buy time - somewhere stable and sober to live while the rest of a life gets rebuilt, at whatever pace that actually takes.

Who runs it

HER Sober House is being built by a small group of people from Fredericton — some with their own lived experience of recovery, others with professional backgrounds in addictions and social services — who saw this gap and decided to do something about it.

We are not naming individuals on this page while the organisation is still taking shape. As HER Sober House becomes a more formal, registered entity, we expect that to change.

Where we are

We are based in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and are actively working to secure a property for the house. We will not publish its address, and we will not publish photographs that would show where it is, once we have one. That is a deliberate decision about the safety of the women who will live there — not an oversight.

Why here, why now

  • The gap is real

Women leaving treatment often have nowhere stable to go next, and the first weeks after treatment are the ones that decide what happens.

  • Women-only, on purpose

A women-only house removes a set of pressures that mixed housing does not, and makes it possible to write house rules around what women in recovery actually need.

  • Small, and staying small

The house is deliberately small enough that everyone knows everyone. That is the point, not a limitation to grow out of.
